Our journey of Creative Explorations comes to an end

We have now completed all 10 of our Creative Explorations around the UK and Ireland asking the question ‘What Am I Worth?’.

We worked closely with about 150 people, disabled, non-disabled, young and old, who opened up and allowed us into their worlds. We played and experimented with circus skills, theatre, writing and music all the time finding creative ways to push inclusivity and integration.

“I’ve loved the Creative Explorations and have enjoyed meeting lovely, talented, generous, kind, fun people in Carlow, Glasgow and Bristol. I’ve learnt about real value and thoughts have stayed with me from of a lot of the stories shared around the question What Am I Worth?” John Kelly, Artist, Extraordinary Bodies

Our 10th and final Creative Exploration took place on home turf at Bristol Old Vic from the 13th – 15th February, where we worked with a mix of local young integrated theatre groups. For three days we experimented with inclusive approaches to circus skills, creative audio description, writing and music, and discussed how people felt about their own worth and value in society.

A thank you to the participants from Tom Morris, Artistic Director, Bristol Old Vic:

“Thank you for your extraordinary openness to the work you have done over the past few days. Thank you for allowing us in to your worlds, and for the work you have created as part of this Creative Exploration.”

We will now be using the stories, ideas and contributions from the 10 Creative Explorations as material for the making of an exciting new show, What Am I Worth?. It will be performed in the outdoors, from summer 2018, by an exceptional cast of disabled and non-disabled circus, theatre and music artists.

This project is funded by Arts Council England Ambition for Excellence.
