Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists take to the stage

Back in May 2020, Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists were about to go on tour with their new show Till We Win. The dates planned at Bournemouth Emerging Arts Festival, Brighton Fringe and Birmingham Rep’s festival For/With/By were of course rescheduled. Our young artists didn’t let the pandemic stop them: they kept busy by creating a digital piece called This Town Of Ours, taking part in Connecting Communities and continuing to develop Till We Win. They are now ready to take to the stage again.

New show dates for Till We Win

Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists are really excited to be performing at two different venues this year. On Tuesday the 27th of July, they will be at Birmingham Rep’s For/With/By, a youth theatre festival for 16 to 18 year olds. The pass to the event covers lunches and includes access to workshops, a symposium, social events and performances.

Following this, Till We Win will return to our home and one of Extraordinary Bodies’ key touring partners Lighthouse Poole on Saturday 18th of September. Tickets for this event are open to everybody. They will be performing in the afternoon before Extraordinary Bodies’ evening show Human. Why not find out more about Human and book tickets for a double-show day?

Four photos of Till We Win rehearsals. Top left: a group of young people with their fist raised in the air in protest and victory. Top right: a performer sat on a cube on the lefthand side of the stage. Behind them, a screen shows a moon in a clear night sky and captions: 'We need your magic now more than ever.'. Bottom left: two performers sat on a block-bench on stage/ On of them is reading a letter. Behind them, a caption on the screen reads: 'Care and love.'. Bottom left: A woman in her thirties with a glittery gold top and short hair wears headphones and reads from a script. Behind her, captions on the screen read: 'I needed more, so I ordered the next one, 'click', then the one after that,'.

What Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists are saying

Live performance is what we do best. We’ve had a busy year working together digitally, making beautiful audio with Harry Bassett and spectacular animation with Biggerhouse film. All of this work has made our live performance even stronger. Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists have explored new ways to tell our stories and added new layers to the shows aesthetic. We are totally ready with a show that is anarchic, joyous and real. We have truly missed our community and can’t wait to get back in the theatre again – to share our stories with you and to take our rightful place again, centre stage.

– Eilís Bevan-Davis, Artistic Director

It means the world to me that we have two performances lined up because it feels like we are free again and we can finally share our show.

– Kieran Procter, Performer

It’s been a hell of a lot of Zoom sessions but we’ve made it out of the worst period now. We’ve come into the beaming light of the stage to perform not once but twice in 2021!

– Josh Ward, Performer
