About Waldo’s Circus of Magic and Terror

This show is a major new mid-scale circus written by Hattie Naylor and Jamie Beddard with an original score from Charles Hazlewood. The show is presented by Extraordinary Bodies, co-produced with Theatre Royal Plymouth and Bristol Old Vic and will tour to 7 venues across the UK from Spring 2023.

Inspired by true events, Waldo’s Circus of Magic and Terror tells the story of the eponymous ringmaster and his travelling circus in the years immediately before the Second World War. Every night, this close-knit group of outcasts and misfits, acrobats and aerialists, lovers and fighters dedicate their whole selves to the entertainment of others, while by day they struggle to survive in a country overrun by Nazi fervour.
